MAKHACHKALA, October 9 – RIA "Dagestan". According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), the Republic of Dagestan has ranked second among Russian regions for the highest growth rate in fish consumption, recording a 23.3% increase.
While the national trend indicates a continued expansion of local and regional fishery brands, the highest absolute per capita consumption remains concentrated in Nenets Autonomous Okrug (41.4 kg annually), Chukotka (33.3 kg) and Astrakhan Region (32.5 kg).
In terms of consumption growth rates, Dagestan follows Ingushetia (+45%) and precedes Ulyanovsk Region (+17.1%).
The Fisheries Committee of the Republic of Dagestan noted that the regional government actively promoted seafood consumption by fostering local brands and hosting gastronomic events designed to showcase the bounty of the Caspian Sea and the region's rich fishing traditions to both residents and visitors.
