KAZBEKOVSKY DISTRICT, October 9 – RIA "Dagestan". The 10th International Archery Tournament "CANYON'26" has officially commenced near the settlement of Dubki in Kazbekovsky District, drawing 285 athletes from 21 countries.
The international roster includes delegations from across Europe, Asia and Africa, featuring teams from China, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, South Africa and others.
First Deputy Minister of Sports Zaur Salautdinov, representing Acting Minister Sazhid Sazhidov, delivered a welcome address, emphasizing the event's role in fostering international cooperation and cultural exchange.
Mikail Dzhamaldinov, Head of Dubki Municipality, highlighted the Sulak Canyon's growing reputation as a global hub for traditional archery.
Sanal Ochirov, Senior Coach of the Russian National Team, noted the tournament's significant structural evolution and elevation to international status since its inception in 2017 in Stary Zubutli. The competition overseen by Chief Judge Dzhamal Makhtibekov, Chair of the International Traditional Archery Judges Panel will finish on October 11.
